POINTING PEOPLE TO A GROWING RELATIONSHIP WITH JESUS CHRIST

Abingdon Bible Church's COVID 19 Reopening Plan:
Dear Abingdon Bible Church
The board has met and developed a plan to resume church worship services May 31, 2020. We will offer three options for worship that will start at the regular time of 10:40 am.
We will continue to provide a live stream feed of the services on the church's YouTube channel (here).
We have set up an FM transmitter to broadcast the services into the church parking lot. This will allow members to get out of their house and be around others from a safe distance (in their vehicles). Tune your radio to 107.1FM to hear the broadcast.
We will have in-person services in the church.
In-Person Service Guidelines
We have established some protocols for those who plan on attending church in person. It is important that we follow these protocols for everyone’s safety and to ensure that we comply
with the state’s and CDC’s mandates.
Pews will be clearly marked to ensure families are distanced 6 feet apart.
If you are not in the same family group you should not sit together.
Do not linger in the common areas such as the foyer.
Offering plates will be placed in the foyer to remove the need to pass the plates. The plates will be picked up when the preaching starts.
Attendees must refrain from hugs and handshakes.
Attendees should strongly consider wearing face coverings over their nose and mouth at all times. [since the formation of the wording of this announcement, the Governor has made face masks mandatory in all public place.]
Hand sanitizer will be available in the foyer.
The cleaning team the church employs will clean the church the Saturday before each service and after the service weekly.
We will continue to have communion for those at the church. We have found an option to distribute the elements in self contained, individually sealed containers.
Sunday School: We will not be having Sunday School (or any other children's programming) at this time. We want to limit the amount of time we will be in contact. We will review Sunday School and possibly other services at each board meeting.
Vacation Bible School: We will not be having VBS at our usual time in July. We may have an abbreviated VBS program closer to Fall. The abbreviated program will be contingent on the
state’s reopening progress which we will review during our July board meeting.
Upward Football: We are still planning on doing Upward at its normal time this Fall, but as with VBS this will be contingent on the state’s reopening progress.
Conclusion: (Unity and understanding in unprecedented times):
We ask that everyone use their best judgment and choose the worship service option that is best for them. We understand that not everyone is able to attend in person, or may not feel comfortable attending service in the church. We understand and ask that everyone respect each other’s worship decisions.
Please be patient as this is all new to us and this is a fluid situation. We may need to make quick adjustments as we work through our process and learn new information.
The board also asks for your continued prayers for wisdom as we proceed forward reopening the church and other programs.
Thank you for your prayers,
The Elders of Abingdon Bible Church
